Guided workflow variation

Coming soon for Windows. Feature preview.

The whole WhatsApp chat,in order, on numbered pages.

When a lawyer, mediator, insurer or landlord asks for the messages, they usually mean the full thread, not a few screenshots. ThreadBind turns the chat export into a PDF that shows every message with its date, time and sender, and leaves the export itself exactly as it was.

Export the full chat with media, keep that folder as it is, and let ThreadBind write a numbered PDF of every message to hand over.

If this sounds like your week

Screenshots show a slice, not the conversation.

A request for the messages usually means the complete exchange from start to finish, not highlights. Snapshots of a phone screen show fragments, with dates that drift away from the lines they belong to, and pasting the text into an email strips out everything but the words. Either way, the reader cannot tell where the record starts or stops.

Where tooling usually breaks

Gaps and loose ends invite questions.

If a stretch of conversation is absent, or a photo cannot be tied to the remark it answered, someone will ask what else was left out. Deleted and edited messages, group changes, and attachments that never made it into the export belong in the record as well, and they vanish easily when a thread is rebuilt by hand.

Where ThreadBind lands

Every message, marked for what it is.

ThreadBind writes the chat as the export records it. Chat events such as members being added appear as chat events, deleted messages read This message was deleted, edited ones carry an Edited note, and anything the export omitted is flagged where it was sent. The first page states the message count, the date range, the participants, when the PDF was made, and which export it came from.

What you get

Feature highlights

Opens the export WhatsApp made

pick the export folder, or the _chat.txt or WhatsApp Chat with text file with its photos, from Android or iPhone, made with media or without.

Dates and senders read for you

12- and 24-hour clocks, slashes, dots or dashes, AM and PM words in many languages, and the day and month order worked out from the dates, with a Day first or Month first switch.

Pictures in place

every photo and sticker in the export folder is placed under the message that sent it, scaled to the page, with stickers printed small.

Every file accounted for

voice notes, videos, documents and contacts are listed by name under their message, and files the export left out are noted in place and listed at the end.

Paged like a document

a title block with the message count, date range and participants, a heading for each day, the chat name and a page number on every page, on A4 or Letter.

Local, with the export only read

nothing uploads, there is no account or telemetry, and the PDF is a new file you name in the Windows save dialog.

Especially when

  • Turn a WhatsApp chat export, the text file and its media folder, into one readable PDF without pasting it into a word processor
  • Put every photo back beside the message that sent it, and name every voice note, video and document, instead of matching file names by hand
  • Print a whole WhatsApp conversation with day headings, times, senders and page numbers instead of a stack of screenshots
  • Keep the chat on the PC, with no upload and no account, and leave the original export exactly as it was

Who benefits

Real-world scenarios

A deposit dispute with a landlord

A tenant and landlord agreed over WhatsApp on repairs and the return of a deposit. Months later the landlord disputes it, and the tenant's advisor asks for the full conversation with dates, not a handful of screenshots.

The tenant exports the chat with media and opens it in ThreadBind. The PDF covers every message from the first date to the last, with the photos of the flat under the messages that sent them, and page numbers the advisor can cite.

A co-parenting schedule

Two parents arrange pickups and holidays in a WhatsApp chat. One parent's lawyer wants the last year of the conversation in a form that can be read and referenced page by page.

ThreadBind writes the year as a PDF with a heading for each day, so the lawyer can point to page 14 and a date. Deleted messages show as deleted, and the original export folder stays untouched for anyone who needs it.

Photos for an insurance claim

Photos of water damage and the plumber's replies were exchanged in a WhatsApp chat on the day of the leak. The insurer asked for the messages and the pictures together, with their times.

The PDF places each photo under the message that sent it, with the time beside the sender's name, and the title block states the date range. Any photo the export missed is listed by name at the end, so every reference is accounted for.

Deep dive

Preparing a WhatsApp chat for a lawyer, mediator, or hearing

Export the whole chat, with media. In WhatsApp, export the conversation with Include media on Android or Attach Media on iPhone, so the photos travel with the text. Copy the export to your Windows PC and keep it as it arrived.

Keep the original export alongside the PDF. ThreadBind only reads the export folder; it never edits, renames or moves a file in it, and it refuses to save the PDF over the chat text or any file the chat refers to. Store the folder, or the zip it came in, next to the PDF. Whoever asked for the messages may want it too.

Check the dates before you export. Phones write dates in their own region's order, so 03/04 can be March 4 or April 3. ThreadBind works the order out from the dates in the file. When the dates cannot settle it, a Day first and Month first switch appears above the table, and the chat is read again with your choice.

Read the first page. The title block states the chat name, the number of messages, the first and last dates, the number of participants, and the time the PDF was made, with the name of the export it came from. That tells a reader exactly what period and source the document covers.

Look for what the export left out. If the chat mentions a file that is not in the export folder, the PDF says Missing file at that message and lists every missing file again at the end with its time. In an export made without media, each spot carries a note such as Media not included in the export.

Deleted and edited messages. WhatsApp writes a line where a message was deleted, and ThreadBind prints it as This message was deleted with its time and sender. Messages the export marks as edited carry an Edited note.

Page numbers for references. Every page carries the chat name and a number such as 7 / 31, so people can refer to a page and a date in a letter or a meeting.

Keep it private. A chat in a dispute is sensitive. ThreadBind makes no network connections and has no account, so the conversation never leaves your PC on its way to becoming a PDF.

Ask what else they want. Your lawyer or the other side may ask for the original export or the phone itself as well as the PDF. Keeping the export untouched makes either easy to provide.

FAQ

Straight answers—no glossary dump

How do I prepare WhatsApp messages for a lawyer or court?

Export the whole chat with media from your phone and keep that export as it arrived. Open it in ThreadBind on your PC, check the dates and messages in the table, and choose Export PDF. Hand over the PDF with its numbered pages, and ask your lawyer whether they also want the original export folder.

How do deleted and edited messages appear in the PDF?

As the export records them. Where WhatsApp wrote that a message was deleted, the PDF prints This message was deleted with its time and sender. Messages the export marks as edited carry an Edited note under them. Chat events, such as a member being added or the group subject changing, appear in smaller type without a sender.

What does the first page of the PDF show?

A title block with the chat name, the number of messages, the first and last dates, the number of participants, and the date and time the PDF was made, with the name of the export it was made from. Every page also carries the chat name at the top and a page number such as 3 / 12.

What happens to the original export files?

They are only read. ThreadBind opens the folder or files you pick for reading, and the PDF is a new file you name in the Windows save dialog. Saving over the chat text or any file the chat refers to is refused, and a cancelled or failed export leaves an earlier file of the same name exactly as it was.

Where does the chat go while ThreadBind works on it?

It stays on your PC. ThreadBind runs in the Windows app sandbox, declares no capabilities, and makes no network connections, so nothing uploads. There is no account, no sign-in and no telemetry, and it writes no log. The Recent list of exports you opened stays in its own storage on this PC, and Clear list removes it.
